Hi,

I've only recently discovered this forum and I think it's a wonderful idea for bringing people with Fibromyalgia together.

I'm 27 and I live in Scotland, and I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia last year after having seen a doctor in America who recommended that I suggest it to my doctor that he investigate me for it on my return to the UK. After returning home I googled fibromyalgia and I was amazed to find that most of the symptoms I have experienced or I am still experiencing... My GP referred me to a specialist who confirmed the diagnosis, I was so glad to finally have a diagnosis for all the symptoms I was having which according to my doctor didn't "fit together" when I had been visiting them and saying that when one thing started it brought on another thing...

Since my diagnosis I've had trigger point injections which I found quite helpful for a few weeks (I had these roughly around January) but I've not heard anything about them since. I am now waiting for Physiotherapy and I am currently being prescribed Amitriptyline and Diclofenac, which are a hit and miss when it comes to managing the pain.

That's a brief introduction to me and how I am with fibrolmyalgia so far... I'm not really sure what else to write here...

Hi and welcome :welcome:

Sorry you've got fibro but glad you've found us. Its strange getting the diagnosis as on one hand your happy to at last have a diagnosis and know yuour not a hypercondriac but on the other totally baffled and bewildered at what happens next. :yikes:

There is lots of information on here and also the chance to share information or just have a rant when things get to much. :scream-1: The one thing to remember is your not on your own. Everyone on here understands as we've all been there. :grouphug:

SO WELCOME AGAIN

  and :welcome: to the forum. There's lots of info and advice on here, so have a look and a read around, hopefully there will be something helpful in amongst it all :-D :-D

If you found the injections beneficial, it might be worth trying to chase them up to see if you'll be able to have any more. There are other meds that can be used in trying to manage FM, this linky tells you about some of them http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Fibromyalg ... tment.aspx With you saying your current ones are hit and miss, maybe talking to your GP about others you could try could be something to think about.

Anything you want to know, just ask, it doesn't usually take too long for someone to :penguin: :penguin: :penguin: along with a reply
