Hi
I am 55 ,married for 37 years , two grown up sons and four grandchildren.

I have been an Holistic therapist working from home on and off due to the FM and osteoarthritis and tinnitus. I live in Cornwall .

I am changing direction into art/craft things so I can still work in some way at my own pace. I garden when I can with pots only now , knit as and when , write to pen friends I made from the tinnitus association I belong to. which I really enjoy. I love writing .

I find FM is isolating, as in going out and socialising, but I do have the friends I write to and email , all of which are great friends and I have had for a long while now.

I am hoping to make more great friends here too to mail/write to with FM .

I walk with a stick and find walking difficult , even getting to the bus stop takes planning, then by the time I have got there and to the town I am too tired to walk around!!

I did drive , but haven't now for quite a while.

I keep a positive outlook as much as possible .

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.
I have been registered here before but lost touch for quite a while .

Angel
Diagnosed with FM 2007 /Also have Osteoarthritis which I have had for many years .
Looking to connect with fellow FM people near me as well as making friends and having support from this forum .

Hi Miss Bunnpenny,
Thank you for your welcome. It is so nice to hear from you all. If you get about the site quite a bit, you know, a chat here n a chat there  I really really really really really nead to hear from people who get this awful burning sensation. I had FMS for many years then it changed after back injury then menopause etc. I have tried Neurontin which had me up in bruises! then Lyrika, but a side effact is burning pain! My face even goes pink with the skin burning. My tears burn my skin
Could you be a honey bunney? and ask anyone with this to look me up please. I tried looking about the site but have been off my feet until to-day. Its good to have a laugh though. Thanks again :)

Best Wishes
Inkey

Hello all, I'm a 50 year od living in Cornwall, I was diagnosed with Dorsal Fmg in 1996 after being invalid out of the Navy. I've never really known what it was until reading this site, now its setting off alarm bells in my head. I have suffered with back, muscle pain for years and more recently all over joint pain. Over the years I have been prescribed a lot of the drugs mentioned on here, all of which have had different affects. On my last visit to my GP, for all over pain, he went down the Rhumy./ arthritis route, the tests where inconclusive, so I'm still suffering. As for work, I'm a delivery driver for B&Q, which you can imagine involves a lot of lifting. This is something I am finding increasingly difficult to do, as my upper body strength seems to be declining rapidly, so after a particularly hard day the pain is that much worse. Pain killers! Brufen or I just go to the pub and have enough so that I can sleep, not the best way I know, but it helps and I enjoy it. On my next visit to my GP I will certainly be mentioning Fmg and see what happens.

Hi Dave, (I said welcome on your thread) I wonder if we've met... same age as me and hubby was a RM Bandsman in Dartmouth and Plymouth after we married and I worked at the Naval College, The Floating Bridge and The Boatel.

Hope you manage to get some help NHS-wise and find people near you... I don't think there's a support group down your way but there is a helpline... see

Hi Gillshut, I was based at Culdrose most of my career, apart from sea drafts, was on the old ark between 75 & 76 and the last trip of the Mighty A, so could have met your hubby, my wife was an MT Wren and was at Deal from 78 to early 79.

A forum has started up locally, was in the local paper last week but I can't find it on the web despite typing the full address, so will have to keep trying.

THANKS FOR THE WELCOME.

Ps Booty Bands are the best
