:cow-wave: :cow-wave: :cow-wave: :cow-wave: and welcome. I've moved you into here as it's a more suitable place for your post.

There is lots of info and advice on here so you could start by having a bit of a read to see what might be helpful for you. And if you can give us some ideas about what you're wanting to know about, we might be able to come up with some suggestions for you.

There are support groups, if you have a look on the main site you'll find a linky to groups that are registered ith UKFM. Choose your area and see what is available. Googlying your area and FM may also throw up groups, help etc.

Hi Andy and :welcome: to the forum :cow-wave: :cow-wave: :cow-wave: :cow-wave: :cow-wave: :cow-wave:    See your GP they tend to manage your condition with you and can refer you for any of the services which they think you may find useful :goodluck2:

Hi andy

:welcome: I'm sorry you may have FM but you are definitely in the right place for support and information. I don't know too much of your story but for most of us it was our GP's who referred us to a rheumatologist who then made the diagnosis. Once diagnosed we were then referred back to the care of our GP's who manage the condition with us.

You seem to have lots of questions so I think the best thing to do would be to see your GP with these questions and ask what they can do for you. There is a wide variety of painkillers out there so it may take a while to get the right combination for you. Also depending on where you live it also affects the services available to you on the NHS. There is physio, hydrotherapy, pain clinics (a few more but I'm a bit foggy today so can't really think of more at the mo sorry) so ask your GP to refer you to anything they feel may help you.

We are all so different that what may work for one person won't work for another so it's mainly about finding what works best for you. There is a great section on here called "Help/Tips on coping" which I still refer to daily and I've been a member of the FM family for over a year now.

:goodluck2: and hope to chat with you on here soon.

There are different things that can help with FM Andy, it all depends on what you personally feel you need.

As have already been mentioned, physio can help, as can hydrotherapy and acupuncture. The place to start finding out about what is available in your area is your GP surgery. Talk to your GP to see what there is and what might be suitable for you to try. A lot of us take a cocktail of meds to try and help manage our various symptoms, this linky has info about the ones often used http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Fibromyalg ... tment.aspx Again, a chat with your GP is needed to find what might be suitable for you to try.

It can, and quite often does, take a while to find the right mix of things for you as we are all very different when it comes to meds, treatments etc. What may help one may not do so for another, so it's not unusual to find yourself trying a number of different things before you hit on your particular mix. It's a pain, but unfortunately a necessary part of the process unless you're dead lucky and happen to hit on the right ingredients for you immediately.

There are things that you can do at home yourself to help make things a little more comfortable. For a lot of us, heat on a particularly hurty bit can help ease things and lots of us use hotty bottys and/or the wheat packs that can be heated in a microwave to do this. Soaking in a warn bath can often have a similar effect.

If you have a look at the section called "Help/Tips On Coping" you'll find lots of suggestions that have been made and tried out by various members over time which may be helpful for you.If something doesn't really help tho, try not to be too despaired, instead just :horse_running: :horse_running: :horse_running: :horse_running: along to the next one and give that a go.
