Hello to everyone

Postby danworg » Sun Dec 08, 2013 9:52 pm

Hello,my name is Dan.
I have just joint this forum after being pointed towards it by someone who goes through the suffering that many others on here do.
Myself,well where do i start...

Twelve years ago i was diagnosed with a degenerative bone disease and after a while had an op to replace bones in my wrist, put some plates in my lower arm and fuse some bones, guess what i have now got it in the other wrist and am due to see a specilist in January. However for the past three or four years i have been in absolute agony, not just in my arms & wrists (which we can probably put down to OP) but also my ankles, legs, shoulders and neck.In particular my shoulders kill, continuosly burning sensations...they drive me mad.

I also have for several years suffered with severe tiredness/fatigue,so much so that the fatigue and pain made me sell my cleaning business because i could just no longer cope.I also have no ability to sleep through the night without waking more often than not,and years of trying to get a decent night led me to several times being reliant on zopiclone and several times trying to come off them. The withdrawal symptoms of these absolutly crucifies me and obviously makes every aspect of my life intolerable.
At first the doctors just kept throwing any meds my way ,i fought against this, other than the sleeping tablets,as i was losing the ability to run my small cleaning business properly. They put my symptoms down to depression, funny really as they said that when i first complained many years ago about pains in my arms & wrists...lol.

Now along with these things going on as previously described,i also suffer from restless legs, regular headaches, skin touching is very sensitive regularly,my muscles ache and i am finding that i keep forgetting things easily (yet i can remember in a flash things that happened many years ago).
I obviously suffer with depression,i mean who wouldn't if they had all this going on in their lives, and along with sertraline i have to take beta blockers for anxiety,co-codemol for pain relief (doesn't work the same as tramadol didn't) this just makes me feel high (not complianing about that though.. :-D

Now all these symptoms are present every day of my life,ok sometimes i feel better than others, but in general pain and sadness rule my every day.
What i am going to ask now,and i know i need to hear from qualified persons,is do people on this forum believe that i could be showing signs of fibro?

I ask because i recently met someone who pointed me to this forum, and although i didn't divulge as much information to them as i have here, just looking through others posts on here makes me believe that i am on the right forum, although i did look for a forum called "its all in your head" or "come on ..get on with your life"...i should imagine you have all been through these negative remarks.Life would be so much easier and maybe people more understanding if my overall symptoms were visable.

Sorry for such a rambling first post, but finding people to talk to is becoming more of a challenge as time goes by.My lovely wife and two terrific children try to understand and allways help, but i am a 48 year old proud man and don't want to burden them.
Thanks for taking the time to look and listen and i look forward to receiving some comments.
Thankyou
Dan

Hi Dan firstly I have broken down your paragraphs as most of us cant concentrate on large blocks of text as we forget what we have read very easily.

:welcome: to the forum :cow-wave: :cow-wave: We are not qualified to say whether or not we think you have FM only your GP or rhuematologist is expert enough for that. The problem with FM is there are so many symptoms that can mimic other conditions which all have to be ruled out before fibro can be ruled in.

You seem to be in the middle of a vicious circle, have you considered changing your doc :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

Hello,thanks for the reply.
I am seeing a rhuematologist in January. As for the doctors, well i have changed them once a couple of years ago,and i like my current one.He does kind of help,so for the moment i will stay with him.
I must admit i am looking forward to January to see the specialist, although i have a horrible recurring dream that they say there is nothing wrong with me...

Think we have all had that and in some cases it has become a reality requiring further fighting :-D :-D :-D :-D try not to worry to much (easier said than done I know) as if you do have FM stress will only make things worse
