Hi guys I'm new to this so give me a sec haha I'm 21 and kinda had enough now ...

I have been trying to get a gp appointment for a week now but too booked tell me to ring back the next day! Typical

I haven't been diagnosed with fibro but I have all the symptoms. I have been diagnosed with irritable bowel about 7 months ago now and I was getting chronically tired. Is not sleep much in the night ( maybe 4 hours ) then if go off to work in a cafe and be exhausted. If get home have some food and just go to bed. Fall asleep and feel like I could sleep the whole night but it's another 4 hours. I can't remember the last time I slept the whole night! I feel emotionally and physically drained. I get severe headaches probably about 3 times a week and tablets don't help at all. The pain I feel in my lower back is unreal. I wake up in the morning barely able to move and my legs and feet ache like hell. Been told it's because I'm on my feet all day but been there 4 years now and it's only within the last year I've been feeling like this.

Some days I just don't feel like getting out of bed. What's the point!!

I'm lucky I have a fiancé who loves me and puts up with my aches and pains. My moods and occasionally get a back massage to ease pain but with no real avail

I just needed to rant somewhere because god knows when my appointment will be! Just want my health to be sorted. Boo to life!

Dont give up have you tried booking a phone appointment with your Dr? as they are quiet quivk in my Dr to get or the triarge nurse as they have access to more appointment than the receptionist. I know if I phone my Dr i am usually at the end of my line and just cry that gets me an appointment in under 48 hours. Also dont be fobbed of my Dr is lovely but had no idea what was wrong i remember going in sittimg down and being told i was fine then they dismiss you head down that type of thing, when he looked up i said i am not going until this is storted was yold he might get me an appointment to c some specialst and the rest is history .

dont give up good luckxxx

Hi there.

Best bet is to write a list of your symptoms that you have been suffering for a while to give to your doctor, it may help a bit in getting a speedier diagnosis and/or referral.

What medication are you on at the moment? don't get fobbed off by your Gp and ask for a second opinion if you don't feel supported by them. well that is when you do eventually get an appointment. :-)

Good luck and keep us posted.. Di.

Hey , send an email to the practice manager explaining how many times you have tried to obtain an appointment . Then leave the email stating you wish to be called back with an appointment .in your email use ( unacceptable lack of patient care due to the length od wait )
Your doctor should do blood tests to rule out other issues on the way to diagnosing fm then if you have a good gp they will send you to consultant that specialises in fm .
But there are still a huge amount of non believer gps out there so you must push for everything .
Good luck I hope for your sake it isn't fm ....

Hiya it took 8 years for me to be diagnosed. I have the same problem withy feet in the mornings. My heels and soles ache and I'm left walking like a penguin for a while. I found out I had flat feet as well as fibro and joint hyper mobility syndrome. You need to make an emergency appointment because its not fair on you. Do you have any other symptoms x

The symptoms you describe sound like ME/CFS more than Fibromyalgia.. although like me you could have both...they are quite similar but ME/CFS is more centered around exhaustion and Fibromyalgia is centered more around pain..bit again symptoms are very very similar. Drs don't generally diagnose either until they have ruled out almost all other conditions, and even then there aren't any definitive tests..altho rheumatologists do use a point system to help with the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia
. All this is coming from personal experience.. as stated I have ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, IBS, Hypertension, Chronic and continual headache and migraine, depression which I don't think is depression it's frustration..as getting the help we need is extremely frustrating and long winded. Sites such as these provide for me more help than Dr

Thanks so much for your support. It's nice to be able to talk to people with similar experiences!
Don't worry I'll get the dr to see me and sort me out... Waited long enough.

I've had trouble with my family believing me. My mum says I'm over exaggerating and think I'm lying. Lucky my fiancé is there for me. Everyday is a struggle to get up. I'll let you all know how I get on tomorrow!!

:welcome: to our FibroFamily pegleg :cow-wave: :cow-wave: :cow-wave:

Sorry to hear how things are for you at the moment, and what a nightmare you're having in trying to see your GP    All I can really suggest is for you to keep trying. The next time you call, maybe ask if there is a particular GP who tends to deal with conditions and problems like you are experiencing. If there is, then making an appt to see them might be a quicker way for you to be seen.

Wrt your family, esp your Mum, maybe when you get a dx (or even a potential one) it will help with how they see and respond to things. With those closest to us, quite often the way they react stems from worry/fear that they have about you being ill and there isn't anything that they can do to make you all better again, like what would happen when you were ickle, when creams and kisses would magically make everything better fairy_dust fairy_dust fairy_dust

It took 20 years for me to be diagnosed. I kept going to my doctor and she just kept fobbing me off. We would walk out and my husband would say "well that was a waste of time, she just doesn't listen to you". He knew I was not well even though we had only been together for 4 years. I finally saw a more senior doctor for a steroid injection for the Plantar Fasciitis in my foot and I told him how I was feeling and all my symptoms and how long I had had them for and he immediately said he was referring me to Rheumatology to see if I had Fibromyalgia. Well, I had never heard of it and I couldn't even remember what he had said when I got home lol (another symptom of Fibro lol). I was diagnosed 2 months later by a Consultant Rheumatologist with Fibromyalgia AND Osteoarthritis. I still cant believe it took 20 years but at least now I know I'm NOT dying (I really believed I had something drastically wrong with me some days as I felt so ill). I don't see my actual doctor anymore, I just don't trust her diagnostic skills. I only make an appointment for the doctor that knew what was wrong with me. If you can, try and get an appointment with one of the senior doctors.

Thanks :) I'll see what I can do at doctors tomorrow. I also feel like I'm dying some days. I literally don't want to move because I'm so uncomfortable and stiff. I also get a lot of nausea but I'm assuming that's because of the irritable bowel I have. I'm only 21 I shouldn't be worried about my health I should be enjoying my life but I can't at the moment. Hoping I can get sorted soon x

Good luck getting an appointment this week, think asking for a telephone consultation or emailing are good ideas. When you do get infront of a doctor ask them to do the tender points test - I had had a minor accident and was having physio but wasn't getting any better. My physio said to me one day I have a theory on why you are not improving and touched my tender point and she was right. She wrote to my GP who referred to to a rhuematologist and I was diagnosed - I was very lucky.
Hope you get some relief soon, one of the biggest problems of someone suffering from FMS is that most of the time we look ok, I call it the plaster cast syndrome, because I haven't got one then there mustn't be anything wrong.
Soft hugs for your progress this week
Dx
