Yes you can claim DLA, its PIP now do it as soon as possible

https://www.gov.uk/pip/how-to-claim

not sure on the carer payment, but I would of thought you could get something someone else here should know

also go for a blue badge as well if you have problems with tiredness and mobility

Hi Maureen, I'm knew today to the forum world. There is so e great info and support on here.
I have had fibro for around 10 years but after a fall on my back I have progressively got worse over the last 4 years or so.
I have a very supportive husband and two great teenagers, thank goodness for them I tell you.
I tried for DLA and was turnt down the first time, but didn't have the energy to appeal.
Then tried again 2 years later as my mobility was got so bad. I got turnt down again but had some strength to appeal this time. Eventually after what seemed a long tiring time my pain specialist wrote a supporting letter and I think they finally understood I was for real!
It takes a lot of energy out of us to read, think and fill out the forms, let alone do it again and again but try it.
I manage to work 12 hours a week with difficulty, but I have reduced my responsibilities and hours over time, having a very supportive boss helps. My husband works full time and is not able to claim for a carers allowance as he has to care over so many hours and it also has to do with savings/earnings I think. But this seems very unfair, when he works hard all day and comes home to start again looking after me.
Why should he be penalised I don't know.
I got DLA advise from our family support worker (as my husband has young onset Parkinson's disease) he helped us a lot. But I have heard that citizens advice can be really helpful.
I am going to need their support as my DLA runs out in February and now changed to PIP. I'm not looking forward to that process as everything is so exhausting.
Sorry not given much help but hope you have the strength to go for it
