Hi, new and awaiting rheumy appt

Hi

Not sure where to start really - I'm 44, female and ache all over. I suppose that's the equivalent of walking into an AA meeting and introducing yourself.

I've finally been referred to a rheumatologist but don't know how long I'll have to wait for an appointment.

Anyway this is me, first went to docs almost 5 years ago with breathlessness and heavy legs, there were days I felt like I was wading through treacle. Diagnosed me with mitral and tricuspid valve regurgitation so as far as the docs were concerned they'd 'sorted' my problem. I lead a very active, busy lifestyle running my own business and running after a family not to mention sporty - I ran and swam and played tennis. I've always suffered with migraines but as times gone on they've got worse and on November 1st I endured a 14 day long headache. Still suffered with the breathlessness and the most awful smell of stale smoke so went back to docs where this time I was told I had asthma and was referred to ENT where I was told I had major rhinitis and given a steroid spray. In the meantime I had intense itching on the palms of my hands, scalp and eyebrows and the skin on my hands was peeling and without looking the doc told me I have eczema!

As times gone on My issues have got worse I'm still breathless, still get palpitations, I'm constantly tired and could fall sleep at 3pm I've gone from good sleeper to light sleeper and wake often. If travelling as a passenger I now get motion sickness unless I'm driving, low blood sugar on occasions, I'm always thirsty and hungry but I'm struggling to keep weight off despite walking 5 miles a day. Sometimes I get itchy sore hot eyes with pain around socket, I have pains in legs and lower back and at the moment I feel like I'm walking on a broken ankle even though I know it's not. My neck and shoulders are stiff and ache and my hands don't have the tight grip they used to have, there are times when my fingers burn and even the slightest touch down the side of them is enough to send me through the roof. I have memory issues and a total lack of concentration. I'm either too hot or too cold. My cholesterol has gone from 5.6 to 7 in 10 months, I have sore throats that come and go but no cold. Oh yes and I'm on sertraline because the rage, emotional side and irritability was frightening, I've been on these since Aug after I almost put a cup through the window for no reason.

My active life has taken a bit of a back seat so I'm hoping that I'm told this is either FM or thyroid because if the specialists come back and tell me there's nothing wrong you might as well shoot me now.

By the way Hello! Lol

After all the above I still manage life and see the funny side of things - the one thing I didn't say is I am very determined and I will not be beaten.

Sounds like u definitely have thyroid problems for a start! Possibly fibromyalgia too, bummer I know. Luckily you are able to walk a good distance so make the most of that. Sleep when you have to, explain to family that is still you, just a slightly different version!
