Newly diagnosed

Postby Ivory » Thu Apr 02, 2015 11:53 am

Hi there,
Found this forum after searching Google.
My new GP has just told me she is 99% certain I have Fibromyalgia and has referred me to a specialist.
I'm kinda relieved in one sense, as I've been convinced ive been going mad for the last few years, my old GP put everything down to depression. But I'm also a bit scared to be honest.
I'm 36, married with two boys aged 15 & 19.
I hope to have a nose around the forums later, but just wanted to post a "hello"

Hi Ivory. I've only been diagnosed for a few weeks and am just getting my head around it. It's good that your GP has referred you, I presume, to a rheumatologist. I was diagnosed by a rheumatologist and then returned back to the care of my GP. There's a lot of information on here, as well as friendly and helpful people.

Take care.

Hi Ivory,

Welcome to the forum, i was diagnosed by a rheumatologist a couple of years ago now after a referall from my GP. After seeing one GP before, who like your GP, put all the aches and pains down to depression. My GP says they are doing a lot more research into fibro now seeing as it affects so many people. Wouldn't it be good if some of the top scientists and doctors suffered with fibro then i'm sure a lot more research would be done!!!
