Very painful flare-up!

Postby Roselil » Sat Sep 24, 2016 8:49 pm

Dear friends, I am Roselil and I am a fibro sufferer, together with severe M.E. so am very ill and disabled. I do wonder what seems to spark off such terrible flare-ups. It seems to be the weather, like a seasonable change, or any movement, like travelling even a short distance by car. One short outing can take days of pain to get over. Are you all like that, or am I extra privileged? Any extra stress also seems to be a cause too. But the severe bodily pain, especially the neck and shoulders, causes much stress anyway.

I know I tried several drugs years ago, but was worse on them, so had to give up. But I am once again wondering if there is anything out there which really helps, and does not have serious side-effects. I must read up and see what others say.

It is also hard to type with so much pain, and neck and back, and arm pain. But a computer is so necessary, as it keeps us in touch with others and we make friends. I am also a christian, so receive much fellowship with others all over the world, so that is a blessing. My husband and I also receive our ministry through the internet, as I am never well enough to attend a church, but we can join in with live worship, as we do with those in The Metropolitan Tabernacle in London.

I look forward to meeting some of you on here, and hope we can learn from one another. Sincerely yours, Roselil

Hi Roselil,

Sorry to read you're having a difficult time. Flare ups can be dreadful, and sometimes just come out the blue.
Medication is such a tricky thing, as what works for some, has no effect for others. Same with dosages. I'm very fortunate in that the Gabapentin/Tramadol cocktail with the odd ibuprofen chucked in, keeps me on an even keel - most of the time.

I hope you find something to help you soon.

Much Love

Just amazing dear that you can manage to take that cocktail! I certainly could not, but then I also have severe Myalgia Encephalomyelitis and am allergic to most drugs and antibiotics, many foods, perfumes, gas, petrol etc. Glad you have found something to help the pain, even to reduce it, that you can still have a life. Best wishes. sincerely, Roselil

Dear sufferers, Here I am again with a very painful flare-up of Fibro. Also much swelling in feet, knees and legs, and much weight gain generally.
Has anyone else pain and swelling in these areas? I would like to know, as most doctors would immediately put you on a drug for oedema, but I do not think it is this. I already take Milk Thistle which contains dandelion, and this works for me, in several areas. A few years ago, my hands and fingers swelled up, and I could hardly work a computer, as doctor thought it was due to carpel tunnel, but the specialist I saw, said No, it is due to fibro. Now my hands are back to normal, despite very weak wrists and fingers.

I know stress can make matters worse, despite loads of rest, but how does one overcome stress, when pain is so hard to bear? I am unable to take any strong pain-killers.

sincerely, Rosefen
