Was Diagnosised yesterday ..

I saw the rhumatologist yesterday after two years of pain and GPs treating with painkillers and not a lot else. Really confused I thought it would be a relief to finally get a diagnosis but now not so sure. Can't tell my family I only have two brothers and they have always seen me as attention seeking. I am 33 with a beautiful 2 year old daughter. Trying to find out what this is can some one explain one thing to me is its CFS? My friend has it and its similiar I think but not the same?
Also the consultant said I will be put onto amytryptiline is that any good? I am so confused and well in so much pain will anyone take me seriously now?

Amitriptyline is the drug they tend to try you on first. It helps restore sleep and helps with any nerve pain

CFS is ver simular to FM but you can have both like myself

FM is more pain where CFS is more fatigue

Thank you Its been hard I mean they threw so much info at me in a short amount of time but its going to take three weeks for the report to get to my GP (are they using snail mail?) plus my thyriod is low but though the hospital has the results the GP doesn't and I have to have more blood tests ( I feel like a pin cushion) also my ESR count was high and yet that doesn't appear in the litrature I have found I wish these people could talk clear and precise english.

Hi and welcome to the forum... the system is just stupid as far as letting your gp know stuff, the specialists send it by tortoise and the hospital don't even bother I thought the government were supposed to have introduced a system whereby everyone who needed to could access all the info... doesn't seem to have worked. As for clear English, they try to baffle you with science so you think they are wonderful... no one has told them it doesn't work.
