I would like to say Mahalo (thank you--in hawaiian) to all of you who have showed concern and have took the time to read my message and respond. Today is actually the first day in five days that i actually feel better.

I changed my diet a little and have taken my medicine on a regular basis. My sugar is still in the range of 190-257 but that is much better than not even being on the scale.

I am trying my best to control this and will see my doctor sometime next week. So again thank you all for your thoughtful comments.

Hi Quintina glad you managed to come back on and sooo glad you are feeling a little better :hugs: Like you I have loads of other meds besides those for diabetes (I have asthma and depression too!!) what a lot we are :yikes: Anyway your insulin dosage doesnt seem very high and I'm wondering if this is the problem?? My insulin is a long lasting one and why I only take it once a day, whereas you said you were injecting twice a day.

Have you looked up your insulin on the internet?? thats probably a really stupid question, but I wonder if there is any information on there that you could take to the docs anyway please stay in touch and let us know how you are doing :hugs: :hugs: :blowkiss:

Hi Quintina, just looked up byetta and it's not actually insulin, its used in the treatment of diabetes and it is a hormone which encourages the pancreas to produce more insulin, so if your pancreas is in a bad way and not able to increase the production efficiently maybe this med is not the one for you :yikes: I'm not a health professional and in no way would offer advice about medical matters :nono: but I wonder if when you see your doc next week you should perhaps ask him to explain how this med works :?: :dunno: :hugs: :hugs:

Hi Denys. Thank you for all your help. And yes, i did go online and look up Byetta. My doctor gave this medicine to me because she said it would also help me lose weight. I have been on this insulin for 3 months and have lost over 25 pounds. And before this Friday i was feeling good. Now my body is drained and not sure why. I am calling my doctor and going in to see her one day next week.

Thank you for your help and i will keep you posted. Quintina

Quintina said to me....To show my gratitude, I will invite everybody to Hawaii for a month's free holiday. I will be your tour guide too. Over there is the doctor's surgery, that big building is the hospital and turn left on the other street is the drug store where you get all your meds. For an ambulance just dial 911.

isn't she nice

I asked her if I can borrow some money.

She sent me 3 coconuts and a pineapple.

Hi Quintina and :welcome: to the forum. Sorry my welcome has been a little delayed but I was away when you joined. My gran had type 2 diabetes as does my mum and her sister so me and my cousins are tested for it regularly. My mum takes metformin and manages to get good control but her sister has gliclizide and insulin but is not controlled well. It certainly is a hard condition to keep stable.

I certainly don't envy your position in the USA with regards to healthcare, I have friends in the US and they often find themselves having to choose which meds to take as they can't afford them all. Our NHS may seem rubbish at times but really we are lucky to have it.

Hope your diabetes is stabilised soon and stays stable :hugs:

Thank you for the welcome Helen.....My diabetes has never been controlled and its get's very frustrating. I don't envy anyone with this disease. I know they are a lot more people in worse shape them me, but having any kind of illness, and dr's dont know what to do--can be very stressful and frustrating. Any way thank you for the welcome.

Aloha everyone. Well, i am back from doctors and i am still feeling weak and doctor says all my test came out good. Nothing wrong with me. I am weak, no appetite, yet i gained 5 pounds. Go figure. And to top it all off, since my body is so weak, i got me a head and sinus cold. Can't stop coughing.. So dr gives me antibiotics, cough medicine, and antihistamines. So all it does it makes me feel more tired....i can't win. So, maybe i will feel better. But i took more blood work, chest xray and she is making me an appt so see a diabetes specialist.

Oh and Denys, thanks for the information about Byetta. I could not believe i was taking that med to lose weight. I think something is wrong with my pancreas but my dr says she does not think so.

I am going to see a specialist soon and i will let you know.

Thank you Denys and to all of you who have read my story.

Hi Debbie at least she's started the process maybe the specialist will be able to help sort you out  There must be something wrong with your pancreas as you have diabetes!! its the organ that produces insulin, weird that your doc doesnt think so. Sometimes talking to health professionals is like :banghead: :banghead: anyway keep smiling and taking the meds and let us know how you get on, it's lovely talking to you :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:
