Hi Everyone

Postby Anne161 » Sat Jan 08, 2011 12:17 pm

Hi Everyone as I am a newbie I thought I would tell you all a bit about myself and hopefully get some helpful tips. I have had many symptoms for around 10 years but after countless blood tests and mri scans know one could tell me what was wrong so I just got on with life and thought it was just old age. About 2 years ago I started to get much worse and was taking days off work nearly every week I went to see a new lady gp and she was a god send. She understood all my problems and at at first thought I had M. E. but after seeing 2 specialists I have been diagnosed with fibro and I may also have M.E too. I have been put on 25mg ami and that will be increased to 50 mg in 2 weeks. Although I am getting better sleep I am still in alot of pain and I haven,t worked now for 5 months. I am only receiving sick pay and money is tight which also doesn't help. I see that quite a few people are having physio but that hasn't been offered to me. I was just wondering if this is something that is done by your gp or specialist as I am sure it would help me. I am in my 40,s and a mum to 3 children I feel as though I have no life and I am on a daily guilt trip as I can't do things with my children any more. Any tips would be appreciated and I look forward to your friendship. :needhug:

 and :welcome: Anne. Sorry to hear you have FM, but you've come to the right place for advice, support and a good old moan when you need it (as we all do) There is a lot of info on here about all sorts of things, so have a good look round, and if you need to know anything, give us a shout and we'll do what we can to answer your questions.

As you've only mentioned the amis, are they all you're taking at the moment?? Only reason I'm asking is there are numerous meds used for FM in various combinations. If you're just on the amis, it might be worth you looking at the meds bit on the main site, then having a word with your GP to see which of them might be suitable for you to try along with the amis.

The physio referrals for people seem to be made by various people, so it's another thing it might be worth asking your GP about. The guilt and feeling awful about how FM affects your life and those around you is a horrible thing to deal with. I really struggle with that side of things as well. There is such a lot to take in and get used to with it. For the kids, the best thing I can say at the moment is try to explain to them what it is and how it's making you feel, tell them you still love them very much and still want to do things with them, but at the moment you're trying to get this illness so you can manage it, but then you have done that, then hopefully you'll be able to start doing little bits of things with them again. :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

If your dog doesn't like someone, then you probably shouldn't either

Hi Ann welcome to the forum you are in the right place for support, i know how you feel when you say you feel guilty because you can't do things with the kids you would like to i have 9yr old twins (and a 21 yr old a 19 yr old and a 14 yr old) and i constantly feel guilty because i used to be able to do so much with them and now i struggle but i sat them down and explained what was wrong with me and some/most days i wouldn't be able to do a lot with them and they have been great. I dont know if you said how old your kids were they may not be old enough to understand but please dont feel guilty this is not your fault and you will be surprised how much kids do understand. I have a 5 month old grandaughter who i struggle to lift most days but as she gets older i will explain to her aswell. Chin up and you defo dont have old age lol i am in my 40's also
:hugs: :hugs: xx
