Hello I'm Zoe

Postby MotorRoamer » Mon Jan 10, 2011 5:38 pm

I have been looking on here for a few weeks, but I thought I'd better say hello :D
After moaning and groaning at my GP since 2004 she has finally admitted I could have Fibro, I don't know if thats good news or not :D

Hi Zoe and :welcome: to the forum, in general a diagnosis is good news because you finally have a name for whats wrong with you and can stop thinking its all in your head and bad news cos there's no cure pls it depends on how badly the condition affects your everyday life, some people have it mildly and can go about their lives pretty much as normal except when in a flare, whilst others are far more disabled with it and their lives are changed almost completely.

Have a read and if you have any questions just ask and we'll do our best to answer them for you :hugs: :flowers:

Thank you for your welcomes!
I find my head is quite muddled to when all of this started but I think I can put it down to my second pregnancy in 1997. I suffered with sciatica which never actually went!
As time has gone by it almost feels like it has spread throughout the whole of my body.
I have for the past three years had treatment on my hip, firstly with injections, then I had arthroscopy for a labral tear, now I'm awaiting treatment and maybe another op for something called ligamental teres (who knows what that it)
The trouble has been, that whilst treating my hip, everything else has been pushed aside "OH well lets get the hip sorted out first and then we'll look at everything else".
I recently went to another GP at my usual practice who seemed to know what I was talking about in an instant, and has now booked me in to reumy on the 31st of Jan :D

 and :welcome: Zoe. There is lots of info, advice and support on here. It might be worth having a look thru the posts on here to see if there is anything you think might be helpful for when you go for your appt with the rheumy. :goodluck2: anything you want to know, just ask and we'll try to help you, and let us know how you go on :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed:

Blimey Fluppy, you're telling me. :D The only trouble is, it hurts to read to much, its going to take me forever to get through it all. I have no idea what to expect at rheumy, I'm just looking for a thread about it now

hi zoe.

when i saw my rheummy, prof. davies, he tested my tender points and told me i have fibro and to take lyrica. my experience wasn't very helpful as i had already been diagnosed and had already tried the medication.

anyway, hope it goes well for you. :fingerscrossed: and :goodluck1: for your appointment

Thanks Adele.
My appointment is on the 31st at Nottingham, My GP has sent me to Nottingham rather than the local Derby Hospital, as she says its a far more experienced department so with any luck I should see someone who knows what they are talking about. My GP already thinks I have it, but it seems like she wants to rule out other things too. So its :fingerscrossed: here I come. :D

hi zoe,

it sounds like you have a good GP. my doctor is great and did the same and sent me to london to see the prof, who is the country's top fibro specialist, rather than send me locally in gloucestershire.

keep us posted,

adele :blowkiss:
