New to Fibromyalgia

Postby newyorkyankees27 » Fri Feb 25, 2011 2:50 pm

Hi all,
I have been reading all your entries over the past few months with great interest. Over the past couple of years I have been in pain in my hips, arms and legs and have progressively moved to shoulders, neck, hands, feet and every other possible part of my body.

I had been treated for a hip bursitas and had various treatment like physio and injections and nothing worked. I had read about this condition and thought that my husband might of had it a couple of years ago but thankfully not. Since September 2010 I have not worked as apart from the continueing strength of pain in all parts mentioned previously I also suffered from unexplained T.I.A's or mini strokes. My left hand side of my face drops. Has anybody had symptoms like this?

I use a walking stick and I am virtually housebound unless I dare to go out with my husband who is now learning to understand the condition more and more as he reads about it and visits the doctors with me. My doctors are using me as a guineapig trying different pain killers etc. I have my first appointment with the specialist at hospital on March 3rd, I wonder how they can call themselves specialists in this field as nobody understands it or can cure it!

The pain in my arms feel like weights are pulling my arms down and I cannot lift them above waist level. I have had to cut my hair short as I cannot lift my arms up to blowdry my hair etc and there is nothing worse than knowing you feel terrible and probably look terrible as you cannot do cosmetic things like that. Everyday I get up with my husband, see him off to work and sit down on the chair with a blanket over me and have comfort from my cats ( I am sure I read something regarding cats and pets in general giving comfort).

 and :welcome: to the forum. As you've been looking and reading, I hope you've found that we're a friendly bunch who try to help and support each other :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

It sounds like you've had your fair share of going thru the mill, like a lot of us have done :( I have a doglet that brings me a lot of pleasure and comfort, and there have been various things written about the benefits having a pet can bring, and a member of our family would definitely agree with you as she has a cat that she has that special kind of bond with :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

:goodluck2: with your appt on the 3rd, hope it gives you the answers you need so you can start (hopefully) on some treatment that will help you :grouphug: :grouphug:

If your dog doesn't like someone, then you probably shouldn't either

Hi BarbaraAnn if you click on the little PM icon on Shaz's post it will bring up a message screen, type your message but make sure you put a title in otherwise it wont send, dont worry about it sitting in your outbox, it wont go till Shaz logs onto the forum :hugs:

Thank you all for your kind welcome.

I will let you know what happens at the pain clinic on Thursday this week, though I am not convinced that anything positive will come of it. My husband is convinced that special diets are the answer to it as family members of colleagues he works with have tried various diets (yet to receive these diets from them) and apparantly they have made them feel a lot better! We shall wait and see. x
