Housework is really difficult atm

Postby diamondintherough » Thu Mar 15, 2012 11:16 pm

Okay so housework is really difficult for me atm. The dishes are stacked up undone for days and hoovering leaves me exhausted for hours. I am considering getting a cleaner for the more heavier housework chores but I feel utterly embarassed to ask for help.

I live on my own and really struggling to manage the housework. I tried to split the chores up over the week but this is still hard.
My question is does anyone else have a cleaner? and did you find having a cleaner allowed you to use that energy on other activities?

I am somewhat reluctant to get one as I want to cling onto what independance I have left.

I have a cleaner and I live on my own. Only a couple of hours every fortnight. She doesn't know I have FM but I work a lot anyway so she knows im busy and to be honest that's what they're there for, to clean! So it won't matter to a cleaner why you need one! Sometimes I don't do anything inbetween her visits and she doesn't bat an eyelid.
You must however tidy up before they come so they can clean without things getting in the way.

Hi I have a carer come in to clean once a week, personally I'd like more but I cannot afford more. As caterpillar says tidyup before they come and you still feel like you are clinging to some independance - personally I like to do as much washing up as I can during the week so there's precious little to take her time as I called her in to do the hoovering and floors (my two very big bug-bears). She doesn't have much time other than these three tasks, but the relief off my shoulders when I finally called in help was amazing. Go for it you'll feel much better for it in the long run.

Thanks for your comments guys, its reassuring im not the only one having a cleaner.
Like you say i will still have to wash up and clear the clutter before the cleaner comes round so its not like i will be loosing all my independance. More than anything i think it will give me the time and energy to do other things such as socialise, relax or run errands.

Today I finally gave in a booked a house fairy too :-D The company is of the same name and they do ironing and cleaning. Starting off with just the ironing on Wednesday, but plan on maybe having them in once a month for a 'blitz' as in between myself and my husband can keep things going. I'll let you know if they are any good. Hope having a cleaner helps too, Mushroomgirl :)

Give it a go if it lets you get out more or just have enough energy to feel a little more 'normal' then it will be worth it :-D
