I'm in so much pain can anyone help

Postby candyfloss27 » Wed Jul 04, 2012 10:17 pm

Hi I haven't been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, my dr sent me for blood tests for arthritis and after he gets the results back he will diagnose me he says hes pretty sure its fibromyalgia but has to rule out the artritis first, so I'm in the waiting stage at the moment..but the thing is he can't perscibe me the right medication until I'm diagnosed which will be next week sometime, he gave me in the mean time only 400mg of ibrufen which hasn't touched the pain ..and the pain is unbearable! Up to now if tried paracetamol, solapdol and the 400mg of ibrufen which I take 800mg in one go and nothing is making the pain go ..

I have burning and throbbing pains in all my joints at this moment it's nearly every joint my hips, both knees, both ankles, my toes, both elbows, both wrists, fingers my neck I constantly have a stiff back a heavy chest sore ribcage, if I sit too long I completely lock up and it's really painful getting my body back to normal.. I feel tired exhausted and have very little sleep because of the pain ..I also get painful spasms shooting up my spine and after a spasm my back and neck goes very stiff and my neck twitches by itself? Does any one have any tips on how to cope
I'm also 25
Thank you

:welcome: to the forum candyfloss :teddy-bear: :teddy-bear:

I'm sorry to hear ow things are for you at the moment, being stuck in LimboLand is so frustrating and makes everything seem to take so much longer to get anywhere.

A lot of us find that heat can help with easing things a little, this can be anything from a soak in a warm bath to applying the heated wheaty bags that you warm up in the microwave. If you have a hotty botty, that can do the same sort of thing as the wheaty bags.

Other people have found that a TENs machine can help ease things, apparently the ones with 4 pads are more effective.

Not sure what else to suggest to you, foggy head and a lack of sleep aren't the best combo for trying to get my brain fired up I'm afraid    Tramadol is a painkiller often used to try and manage the type of chronic pain we have, maybe seeing if your GP might consider prescribing you some until you get your dx might be a possibility???

Once you have a positive diagnosis Candyfloss, it will be easier to advise you on the meds used etc. As Fluppy has said they tend to take some time to get into your system so its not a quick thing unfortuantly i agree with Flup on the use of small water bottles strategically placed, learning to pace, listen to your body and take regular breaks whatever you are doing, these sort of things can help with any pain so might be some use to you while you wait sorry not much use to you either.

Have a look at some of the other posts and see if there are some suggestions there that might be of some use to you :fingerscrossed: you dont have to wait too long

Hey!

Sounds like we're in the same stages of our diagnosis'. I've had lots of blood work done, all clear, and been told by my lovely new doctor (after three years of suffering and awful doctors!) that she suspects it's fibromyalgia.

I've been referred to A rheumatologist to get anything else ruled out too but she has given me a script for amitryptalene too.

From what I understand, its not really given out as an anti depressant any more, but turned out to be good for other things including fibro! I think it's because FMS sufferers tend to be low in serotonin so it helps with that. My doctor also told me it was more to help me get a good deep sleep.

Hope you get some relief soon! I have been 'coping' with paracetamol, cocodamol, ibuprofen and lots of brews! Nothing has really helped me either though. Maybe we'll both do well with this amitryptalene!
