Problems Tying Shoelaces?

Postby MCT » Fri Apr 10, 2009 8:51 pm

Was having a look on a mobility website for something when I spotted coil laces - great for son who can't be bothered tying his shoelaces & is an accident waiting to happen.

They may also be suitable for those of us who have problems doing up our shoes. That was until I saw the price £14.08 per pair (free P&P)! However I have found a site where you can get 4 pairs for less than that (£3/pair + P&P) just in case anyone may them useful.

My get up and go just got up and went!!!

As you slide down the bannister of life, may all the splinters be facing in the right direction :)

WEAR SLIP ON SHOES
Elastic waisted trousers
Polo necks in winter
and T-shirts in summer with cardigan if needed
Keep it simple and it works
Well it has for me the last 14 years!

Thanks MCT,

I tend to wear slip on shoes as much as possible, but my feet are much more comfortable in training shoes and I struggle with the laces at times. I'll give these a try. :)

When i was first diagnosed the only thing i could bear on my feet were Adedos trainers, the plain flat ones, now i can manage the soft shoes from M&S and they have lasted years and years - but either slip on, or leather ones with velcro fastenings.
Jeans i gave up on them a while ago and have got Matalan elastic trousers - they are great and only £8, wash like a dream too.

This has always been a bit of a thing with me as I am a modern day Imelda Marcos...actually have boxes for my shows. Sad, I know. Big problem though. I can no longer wear anything unless it is an enclosed show with velcro fastening. I don't want to sound shallow or silly even but i really miss my lovely shoes. Having to plan outfits around flat black or brown is hard.

When my physio asked me if I had a dream, I said to wear flip flops again. I have no movement in my left leg so have nothing to life foot up. I can sit and look gorgeous in some fab Jimmy Choos but won't actually be able to move!!

Sorry for the really girly comment......Elaine x

Thank god.
My BF always chuckle at my obsession with having shoes with velcro, well trainers anyway.

I haven't worn heals in 2 years coz they hurt too much now but I do have some pretty flats so that's not too bad.

I miss flip flops as well. Trying to keep them on causes pain so I have given up on them now.
