Inspirational Stories

Postby BuffyBoo » Sun Mar 12, 2006 12:58 am

I thought it would be nice to have one of these sappy threads....
Some of these stories are a bit sickly but sometimes they make you say"ahhhh".
Here goes with mine.

Thoughtful: The Thread in Our Lives

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and
his wife open a package.

"What food might this contain?" The mouse wondered - he was
devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.

Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning.
"There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Mr.
Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it."

The mouse turned to the pig and told him, "There is a mousetrap in
the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"

The pig sympathized, but said, "I am so very sorry, Mr. Mouse, but
there is nothing I can do about it but pray. Be assured, you are in my
prayers."

The mouse turned to the cow and said "There is a mousetrap in the
house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"

The cow said, "Wow, Mr. Mouse. I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin
off my nose."

So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to
face the farmer's mousetrap alone.

That very night a sound was heard throughout the house -- like the
sound of mousetrap catching its prey.

The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness,
she did not see it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught.

The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed her to the
hospital, and she returned home with a fever. Everyone knows you treat a
fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main ingredient.

But his wife's sickness continued, so friends and neighbors came to
sit with the farmer around the clock. To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.

The farmer's wife did not get well; she died. So many people came
for her funeral, the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them.

The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great
sadness.

So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and think it
doesn't concern you, remember -- when one of us! is threatened, we are
all at risk.

We are all involved in this journey called life. We must keep an eye out
for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another.

REMEMBER: EACH OF US IS A VITAL THREAD IN ANOTHER PERSONS TAPESTRY; OUR LIVES ARE WOVEN TOGETHER FOR A REASON.

One of the best things to hold onto in this world is a friend

Friendship

Postby BuffyBoo » Sun Mar 12, 2006 1:04 am

Friendship

Like music heard on the waters,
Like pines when the wind passeth by,
Like pearls in the depths of the ocean,
Like stars that enamel the sky,
Like June and the odor of roses,
Like dew and the freshness of morn,
Like sunshine that kisseth the clover,
Like tassels of silk on the corn,
Like mountains that arch the blue heavens,
Like clouds when the sun dippeth low,
Like songs of birds in the forest,
Like brooks where the sweet waters flow,
Like dreams of Arcadian pleasures,
Like colors that gratefully blend,
Like everything breathing of kindness
Like these is the love of a friend.

TEN COMMANDMENTS OF HUMAN RELATIONS

1. SPEAK TO PEOPLE. There is nothing so nice as a cheerful word of greeting.

2. SMILE AT PEOPLE. It takes 72 muscles to frown, only 14 to smile.

3. CALL PEOPLE by name. The sweetest music to anyone's ears is the sound of his own name.

4. BE FRIENDLY and helpful. If you would have friends, be a friend.

5. BE CORDIAL. Speak and act as if everything you do is a genuine pleasure.

6. BE GENUINELY interested in people. You can like almost everybody if you try.

7. BE GENEROUS with praise - cautious with criticism.

8. BE CONSIDERATE with the feelings of others. There are usually three sides to a controversy; yours, the other person's and the right side.

9. BE ALERT to give service. What counts most in life is what we do for others.

10. ADD TO THIS a good sense of humor, a big dose of patience and a dash of humility, and you will be rewarded many-fold.

Ten Guidelines for Being Human

by Cherie Carter-Scott

1.You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's yours to keep for the entire period.

2.You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, "life."

3.There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work."

4.Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.

5.Learning lessons does not end. There's no part of life that doesn't contain its lessons. If you're alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned.

6. "There" is no better a place than "here." When your "there" has become a "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."

7.Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you
love or hate about yourself.

8.What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice
is yours.

9.Your answers lie within you. The answers to life's questions lie within you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.

10.You will forget all this.

Subject: Joke:And a thought

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying

the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.

He remembered dying and that the dog walking beside him had

been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.

After a short while they came to a high stone wall along one

side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a

long hill it was broken by a tall archway that glowed in the

sunlight.

As he stood there he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that

looked like mother of pearl and the street that led to the gate

like pure gold.

He and the dog walked towards the gate as he got closer he saw

a man at a desk.

When he got close enough he called out "Excuse me, where are

we?"

"This is heaven" the man answered.

"Wow! Would you happen to have some water please?" the man

asked.

"Of course Sir, come right in and I'll have some ice water

brought right up".

"Can my friend", the man gestured towards his dog, "come in

too?" asked the traveller.

"I'm sorry Sir but we can't accept pets".

The man thought for a moment and then turned back towards the

road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.

After a long walk he came to a dirt road leading through a farm

gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no

fence.

As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside leaning against

a tree and reading a book.

"Excuse me!" he called to the man. "Do you have any water"

"Yeah sure, there's a pump over there, come on in".

"How about my friend here?" the traveller gestured to the dog.

"There should be a bowl by the pump".

The man and his dog went through the gate and sure enough there

was an old fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.

The traveller filled the bowl, took a long drink for himself

and gave some to his dog.

When they were full he and the dog walked back towards the man

standing by the tree.

"What do you call this place?" asked the traveller.

"This is heaven" he answered.

"Well that's confusing" the traveller said, "The man down the

road said that was heaven too".

"Oh, you mean the place with the gold streets and pearly gates?

Nope that's hell".

"Doesn't it make you mad that they use your name like that?"

"No we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would

leave their best friends behind".

Soooo....

Sometimes we wonder why friends keep forwarding jokes to us

without writing a word. Maybe this will explain.

When you are very busy, but still want to keep in touch, guess

what?. You forward jokes.

When you have nothing to say, but still want to keep in touch,

you forward jokes.

When you do have something to say but don't know what or how,

you forward jokes.

Also to let you know you are remembered, you are still

important, you are still loved and cared for guess what?..You get

forwarded a joke.

So next time you get a joke, don't just think you've been sent

another forwarded joke, but that you've been thought of today and

your friend at the other end of the computer wanted to send you a

smile.

PS

You are all welcome at my water bowl anytime.
