Anyone else ISC due to inability to empty bladder?

Postby Lyssie » Tue Nov 01, 2011 11:24 pm

Heya everyone. Just wondering if anyone else's uses catheters to empty they bladder? I do and I have been since early last year but I've had bladder problems for 5 years now and I've had chronic pain for about the same time as the bladder problems - since my first spinal fusion. I am under the care of a urologist and nurses who are so brilliant as its a rather sensitive subject to talk about let alone get help with!! But it's a good thing coz I am not wetting myself anymore and that's an amazing thing :) I am also not getting as many UTI's yay! Lol. Anyway I thought I'd give a shout out to everyone and say that if you have a problem like this and you're embarrassed to talk to your Dr about it, please don't be ashamed :hugs: I was and I am so glad I spoke up about it I truly am... Anyway I think that's enough of me for one night, don't you!? Lol, take care everyone and I hope you all have an alright nights sleep xxx

Hi
I know there are a few women who have problems with their bladders, i had an over active bladder and had to have some tests, it turned out i had a prolapsed bladder and had to have an operation so i also advise people to go get it checked out if they are having any bladder problems. :D

I have a prolapsed bladder and bowel and am on the list for what my specialist calls a "designer vagina" :yikes: I have to self catheterise twice a day because I am retaining 200ml and this is causing uti`s and a foul smell to boot, I am terrified of having the op, as my pain tolerance which used to be high is obviously now quite low. Of course taking amatriptyline for the fibro has calmed my overactive bladder, and that is a major plus, but it doesnt seem to have as much effect on the fibro as it used to. Because of many many courses of antibiotics I have become allergic to many of them. Septrin was the most evil one of all.... If I am given that in error it will kill me, Im told.
I hate the catheters, but Im told that a percentage of women who have this op will have to catheterise every time they need to urinate and
therefore I must be able to do it, to even qualify for the op! :fingerscrossed: It might be ok...mightn`t it?
I`m not over the hill I`m still climbing it, thats why I`m so tired all the time
