Painful ears

Postby lorrie123 » Wed May 23, 2012 7:11 pm

Hello everyone hope you have all had a good day 8-) 8-)

The question i want to ask is does anyone get painful ears. Sometimes i get sharp stabbing pains in my ears and other times its a dull pain   and sometimes it feels like an earache coming on. :yikes: :yikes:

Is this part of fibro along with all of the aches and pains :( :( :(

Hi

All symptoms should be checked over by your GP...................but saying that.

Yep, my ears hurt and itch to buggery. GP prescribed steroid cream, said it was likely to be HMS, but to be honest, it don't work :-x :-x :-x

Have you had them checked to make sure there isn't a infection lorrie??

I get exactly the same... Sometimes it last for minutes, other times it lasts for days. My doctor checked, no infection, put it down to fibro!

Where does it all end

Hello Lorrie

Yep......I to get the dreaded stabbing pains, last night I wanted to thread something through one ear to the other one to get rid of
the itching. As if we don't have enough to deal with, may be you should ask to go and see E.N.T. as they helped me by giving me sprays,
drops to use. Not that its helped lol.

Do you suffer with hay fever, as this can be a sign as the nurse tried to explain that to me last week.

Sorry to hear your suffering..........Oh, yes before i forget do you suffer with noises like ringgggggggging?
As this is called Tinnitus....... What ever you do go and get it checked out by GP.

Take care :grouphug:

Hi Lorrie

I would suggest that it might be a good idea if you could go and see an E.N.T. specialist. Especially if your hearing is getting worse
from the ringing or other noises. Do you also sometimes go very dizzy when you got problems with your ears? Try to write symptoms
down to take with you so GP can look at it. Just incase the dreaded Fibro Fog  sets in.

Have been up all night again as can't sleep due to ear ache, have really got another sore throat.......Oh well, hope your feeling
better, good luck with GP next week. Going to try and get some sleep.... :snore1:
:hugs:

tempro mandibular jaw dysfunction T.M.J for short (can spell T.M.J.!) is common in p.p.l with F.M.S (sorry)
it causes pain in and around the jaw that can radiate to the ears and throat
if your jaw makes a click noise (open wide) and you have other symptoms - then you may have it

rest your jaw frequently! try and keep your face and ears warm. Some specialists think some p.p.l with F.M.S
may have tender points near the jaw joints!

Well that would explain symptoms around the ear area, throat and jaw..

tinnitus is common too with F.M.S, you may wonder have I damaged my hearing at some stage, you may have a hearing tet thats not significant. distraction form tinnitus is the best way to deal with that symptom, you can register with the tinnitus association for help.

E.N.T consultant may diagnose T.M.J from symptoms or x ray (that shows if jaw not lined up prop as well)
they suggest physio and a dental splint to relax the jaw Note - not everyone with T.M.J grinds their teeth! but a dental splint helps teeth grinders as well as T.M.J sufferes in general

A dentist can advise you if you have jaw pain with ear pain

A G.P can refer you to a dentist for a dental splint consideration without seeing an E.N.T consultant or may send you to both! woopee

I have to say I love this site! you all make it that way!
