How many diagnosed illnesses do you have?

Postby Jodie » Fri Feb 01, 2013 9:46 pm

Hello!

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with all my diagnosis's. I have:

- Ulcerative Colitis
- Fibromyalgia
- Enteropathic spondyloarthropathy with recurring Achilles bursitis and enthesitis
- Reynauds phenomenon
- Chronic dyspepsia
- IBS
- Asthma

Does anyone else have a bit of a pile up of illnesses to their name and wish to share?

Well that just blows me out of the water.

I'm sorry to hear that you have so many troubles.

How do you manage everything? I've found it's quite hard to juggle the effects of one with the other. For example, the diet recommended for UC is completely the opposite of what I need for IBS and dyspepsia. And I should be taking NSAIDS for the arthritis but can't because of the dyspepsia and UC.

Even my doctors struggle because they can't remember everything so when they suggest new drugs I always have to be 'on the ball' as it were to suggest that it might negatively impact something else I have.

Does this happen with you?

How many diagnosed illnesses do you have?

I have allergies to lots of medication; the only pain killers I can take are Paracetamol. I am currently taking Detrusitol, Calcichew, Amitriptyline, Seretide and I have B12 injections every three months. I have Motilium 10 to take if I need to.

When I saw the Rheumatolgist he suggested every drug that they had already tried and found out I couldn't take... he suggested I take Tramadol at night because I could "sleep through" the fact it caused me to pass out!

I am wary of taking new medication because of all the side effects I have experienced. I also have to be careful what I eat as things can set of my bladder or upset my stomach. I don't drink and I am a vegetarian who has to avoid dairy :)

I still work full time... but have been known to doze at my desk (did I just admit that?!?)...

Thanks, It seems every time I go to the Dr they find something else,LOL. I am a bit nervous already having the thyroid cancer, my dad passed of colon cancer. Thyroid cancer and colon cancer are related and I have symptoms for colon and stomach. It will be what it will.
