gerd?

Postby Wackers34 » Mon Dec 23, 2013 9:06 pm

A few months ago I had a couple of incidences where I had terrible heartburn / acid reflux, where it felt like my throat was burning and was quite painful, plus saliva and foamy white stuff in mouth...I thought nothing of it

I havent had this since, however whenever I eat something ie chocolate or a ginger biscuit or nut, they seem to burn my throat (about half way down) - this has put me off eating those things - I do get shortness of breath now and again and stabbing pains / tightness in chest, but it passes and is not everyday.

This all seemed to happen after I took one pill of amitriptyline (for my fibro) I think it burnt my throat and has been tender ever since...I have seen ENT specialist about another problem I had with lymph nodes and he didnt notice anything in my throat - though I think it may be further down than he can see...

Does this sound like gerd? or symptoms of gerd? or perhaps scarring or ulcer from amitriptyline?

Wackers I'm afraid we can't really say what it is that is affecting you. It could be something being caused by a number of things, such as something in your diet, meds/treatments that you may be taking etc.

Maybe you should consider doing something like keeping a diary of what you eat, making sure you include all the norty stuff as well as the good stuff, and then see your GP and go over it to see if there is some sort of pattern to what causes you the problems. You could also include how calm or stressed you may be as well, to see if this has any bearing on how/when things start flaring up.

Im no doctor but sounds like the Ami's are giving you heartburn/reflux.

You may need to take some Omoprozole

If symptoms persist then they may send you to see a consultant for further investigations.

I had to have a camara down my throat as i was burping and bringin up food i had eaten 5 hours ago :yikes: especialy things like postatoes/rice/bread

I also get chest tightness and burning and more. I was diagnosed with a hitas hernia. Its controlled by renitidine and omoprozole.

Eating little and often help plus try and cut out as much caffeine as you can s this also helped me.
