Yet another surgery, this time to fix stoma

Postby Lyssie » Sat Jul 26, 2014 8:47 pm

Hiya all!

I have a Mitrofanoff continent urinary diversion. I'm waiting for my surgery date to be brought forward as I'm having a skin level revision and granuloma removal plus Mitrofanoffscopy (a scope put down my monty channel). The surgery is booked for 5th January '15 but they're going to bring it forward.

I had this surgery to create the Mitrofanoff last April lasting 5 hours on the operating table and this one should hopefully be no longer than an hour or so.

I'm having trouble intermittently catheterising my Mitrofanoff which is a panic as it's how I empty my bladder. I'd need gas and air if I were to do so urethrally!

I was wondering if other have a really REALLY hard time getting up for the first time after any type of surgery? Like literally almost feel like the pain is utterly ripping through you?! And then the stress of surgery brings on a flare to begin with!

Lots of love :)
