Does anyone have MS?

Postby Zia2014 » Mon Nov 03, 2014 3:27 pm

I tried to do a search but MS was too common lol.

I'm beginning to think I might have this, either instead or as well as fibro. Not trying to be a hypochondriac, it's just some of my symptoms, including some pretty big ones (to me), don't fit with fibro. I'm just trying to find someone with MS I can ask some questions of.

I have looked on the MS forums as well, before anyone suggests it.

Hi I dont have ms but my daughter-in-law does, alot of the symptoms of both fibro and ms are similiar however she was able to be diagnosed with a lumbar puncture and mri as ms shows scarring in the brain but as you may know fibro shows up zilch.

I have fibro and as I said both do have similiar symptoms, maybe asking for a referral to a specialist who would go through tests with you to rule out ms might beneficial.

Thanks for your reply Diane. Odd question, but does she get really hot when it's actually cold?

It is by far my biggest symptom outside of the pain/fatigue, and every professional I've spoken to has said it's not usual with fibro. I know quite a few people get really hot when it's warm, but this is totally different and rather worrying.

My father in law had MS. Yes some symptoms are similar to fibro. You need to discuss your concerns with your Dr Who can confirm or deny your worries.

Temperature is a big issue for me also. I can be on fire but it is cold to others. I also can be freezing cold when the temperatures are in the 30's.

A lot of people are tested for MS while going through the diagnosis for fibro. The symptoms presented to us definitely can be confusing and make us question. As I said talk to your Dr he will help.

Thanks whoami. I've already been tested for a boat load of stuff, I don't think he'll do any more now I've had a diagnosis. I just wanted to find out if MS sufferers got this as I have slight doubts about the fibro.

My GP put every down to fibro after diagnoses. Years went by, the more i got worse... still *fibro* CRP levels went up... *just you* :-? so i got on with it and didnt pester him no more.

Then a few months back when seeing the Rheumi about a CFS confirmation (long story) he noticed my bloods wern't right (GP knew tho and done nothing) i was called back for an examination and x/ray to be told he feels i actually have ankylosing spondylitis :yikes: so after all this time something had been going on but GP never looked into it.

I would seek a second opinion or try again soon. My friend has MS her first MRI was normal but as time went by things got worse and she had to fight for another MRI scan. This one showed up MS! so its worth to keep on asking for tests if you feel that something just isnt right

Thanks Lisa. I'm really not sure. I've had to cancel my planned appointment to do my Tai Chi anyway, so I'll think about it.

Your welcome Zia, my daughter although my daughter in law had a mri it was actually the lumbar puncture tests that showed the ms, she suffers from extreme cold/hot issues but so do I.

The worst being on holiday in over 30dgs heat and shivering like I was in a fridge, even going round the shops and at the refrigeration part has me on edge.

Lisa, I would be really concerned if my bloods came back abnormal and not investigated further, that's just sheer negligence on docs part.

Zia ask for a second opinion, at least you are entitled to that even if it comes back the same thing its peace of mind.
