eyes?

Postby shazq » Sat Jun 06, 2009 7:07 pm

hi
do you have problems with your eyes?
my eyes have been affected from crohns, plus all the steroids i have been on.
i know many other illnesses can have an affect on your eyes too.
I now have to wear glasses for reading. The last time my eyes got tested they told me that they have not deuterated much but because of my illnesses they gave me slightly stronger ones.

I now have to rely on glasses for reading, i cant read small print without them.
I also get a white light that flashes across my eyes, but sometimes this can be an oncome of a migraine, but not always. 8)

Has anyone else found they need glasses through fibro or another illness?

Hi Shaz,

I've just posted a thing about a long list of symptoms, but have copied the ones relating to eyes for you:

EYES/VISION
Acuity changes not related to prescription changes
Blind spots
Blurred vision
Conjunctivitis
Diminished visual acuity in absence of actual vision change
Drooping eyelid
Double vision
Eye pain
Flashes of light perceived peripherally
Optic neuritis or atrophy
Oscillopsia (image jiggles)
Prescription changes more frequently
Pressure sensation behind eyes
Red and/or tearing eyes
Retinal damage
Slowed accommodation (switching focus from far to near, near to far)
Spots or floaters not related to migraines
Swelling around eyes
Uveitis and/or iritis
Wandering or lazy eye

Every time I've had my eyes tested, my prescription has changed, yet when I get the glasses I still struggle to focus sometimes! It's like they're too strong for me. I have recently thought there was a flash of lightening when there hasn't been, not sure if this is the kind of thing you've been experiencing? I also get the pressure behind my eyes and droopy eyelid/eye pain. I had gone back for another eye test, which didn't find anything obviously wrong, so it would seem it's the fibro causing some more problems :(

Hope this helps xx
