Endometriosis and new here help please

Hi all

My name is Sian and I have endometriosis. I have been to my GP due to chronic tiredness. I have had blood tests that all came back normal. Diabetes kidney and liver function thyroid etc. I tend to ache all over like I have flu and every few weeks I get pain in different parts of my body. At the moment I have severe pain in my left shoulder. Other areas that I tend to get pain are right shoulder right hip right knee calf's. My fingers swell up and I seem to get pins and needles a lot.

My GP today mentioned FM but then she said she doesn't think I have it as I should have had Glandular Fever (or some sort of severe virus) to trigger it. As my past experience with doctors isn't great and I know that people who suffer know more than doctors do most of the time. I just wondered what your thoughts are on what I have said.

Please feel free to ask me any questions as I am currently at my wits end and need some way of easing my pain.

Thanks

Honey your GP is "in error". Please read through the information on this and other Fibro sites. Fibro can be set of by a virus, equally by a trauma, equally with some people there's no figuring why it started. I for one, do not mention the name of the condition I am thinking about (unless it's summit simple like thrush or tonsillitis) - I gently lead my GP by the nose with the symptoms and ask him what we can do to link them. Drs can get abit twitchy with self diagnosis so it pays to let them think they know what they're doing.

My own GP, who has attended Fibromyalgia training with FMA, was reluctant to diagnose and sent me to see a rheumy.

There is alot of blindness, some ignorance and some pure maliciousnessout out there. Please ask your doctor if it might be a good idea to perform some simple blood tests Full Blood Count inc White Cells, Iron, Thyroid, ESR, CRP, RA . Perhaps if that doesn't shed any light your GP might consider referring you to a rheumatologist, who will be able to look more closely at the significant factors in his area which seem relevant.

My bad - you mentioned some blood tests had come back OK. Did you get tested for ESR, CRP and RA?

Note to self Sarah - read posts fully before wading in. xxx

Thanks for the reply I am going back to see the doctor tomorrow (a different doctor as the one I saw yesterday only works wednesdays) I will ask about the blood tests you mentioned and see what they say. Things I have read seem to fit but obviously not everything.

Last night my husband massaged my shoulders for me because of the pain I am having the problem is though that when he puts any sort of pressure on me I want to scream in pain he literally made me cry in pain last night but he hadn't even touched the area givivng me the severe pain.

I just need some sort of answer and sooner rather than later as it took 8 years to get my endometriosis diagnosis and that was via major surgery as the gp's had missed it. I can't cope with the pain and chronic tiredness much longer.

Your GP was wrong - chronic conditions that cause pain are known to be a common trigger for the development of Fibro. A lot of people with RA, Lupus, Endo, etc go on to develop Fibro as well.

You have symptoms that are classic of Fibro - I would recommend trying to see a specialist in the condition. Where in the UK are you?

My husband doesn't give me massages - he's in farming and his hands are so rough it's like being buffed with sandpaper! Still, I save money on exfoliators!

I'm the only one in my family who knows what sorT of day my OH has had merely by the colour of his clothes!

Thanks for all your replies. I completely forgot about my docs appt on friday (another thing that seems to fit here) my short term memory is awful!!!

My shoulder pain eased off by friday but then sunday morning my back was in agony and still is. I have booked another docs appt for tomorrow so will be discussing the FM then.

It just seems like something hurts all the time when one thing gets better something else starts to hurt. It is hard to keep going sometimes.
