Nerve Problems?

Postby HelenDavies » Thu Dec 24, 2009 10:48 pm

Hey there everyone,

I have somehow developed minor nerve damage, so not only am I super sensitive to heat but also the cold, if I get cold then my body can't regulate the heat and I end up having a fever for a day and feeling aweful, pins and needles ect, I also have lost the ability to shiver.

I was wondering if anyone else suffers from this / knows someone who does or anything similar? Or any advice because I honestly am stuck, bundle myself up too much and I overheat and am sick, let myself get cold then I get more pins and needles, headaches and a fever.

Not being able to regulate your temperature properly can be a problem with Fibro but nerve damage like this is not a normal part of Fibro, nor is not being able to shiver. Are you seeing a neurologist?
I run FibroAction, a small national charity raising awareness of Fibromyalgia Syndrome. I am not a qualified healthcare professional. If you would like medical references for any facts quoted, just PM me.

Hi
I get numb feet and pins and needles, but dont shiver or get a fever.

You should go back to see your GP and explain to them what is happening, they might send you to a specialist for further tests.

Good luck, hope you get some answers soon.

I get the heat down to freezing and also shivers.
Maybe thats more the ME part of my illness.
Hypothalmic is to blame for a lot of temperature problems, i in our illness our H. does not work properly and regulate our temperature so we go from one extreem to another.
Im often sweating one minute and freezing the next - drives me mad.

Thanks for the replies everyone :]

I've seen 2 neurologists and neither can explain it but blame the FM but are now considering putting me on some "different" types of treatments.

Hmmm this has given me alot to think about.

Thanks again
