Itchy dry patches

Postby jessica fletcher » Sun Feb 07, 2010 10:06 pm

Hi everyone

Does anybody get really bad dry patches on their skin ?

I have them and apparently they are caused by fm,they appear in the weirdest of places (back of knee, calf's, abdomen, back, ankles, chest and even my bum  )and itch so badly that it drives me insane. It starts of with just itchy skin but then i get a light brown crusty patch which is so very v v v v sore. I have tried numerous lotions and potions and medical anti itch cream, but nothing seem's to help :? So if anyone has any suggestion's I would be very v v v v v v grateful

love and good day's to everyone

I'm not sure this is an FM problem... I've never heard of it as a symptom before. I do have dry itchy skin but it is caused by excema. You can get itchy skin from FM and from certain meds like tramadol but there are no signs of brown or broken skin.

Have you been checked for diabetes, as this can cause a lot of itchy skin problems? Have you had it checked for fungal infections?

My husband who is a fit healthy man, thank goodness... Had much the same thing. It was a fungal Infection and cleared up straight away with some cream from our GP.
