I get really itchy ears due to eczema and have even put a screwdriver in my ear to scratch it!! NOT RECCOMMENDED AT ALL
My ENT consultant told me never to put anything in my ear as when i scratch the skin inside it gets infected then i get otis externa which basically means the inside of my ear swells so much the opening closes to the extent i cant even get drops in.
The only thing i find is the ointment i've been given which is diprosone, it is a steroid based ointment so only use a small amount but it works a treat on me xx

hi all

hoping you are all well

i thought it was just an individual peculiarity

i've had itchy ears for about 18 months now, almost as long as i've been suffering facial pain down the entire left side of my head

doc said no sign of infection that it was neuralgia, i'm pretty sure however that i've devloped the mandibular thing, pain whilst eating, achy jaw if chewing much, think it's time i actually checked it out

this forum is a revelation, every time i log on i find a symptom which matches mine and i finally feel that i'm not actually going insane and that what i have is genuine and there are lots of us who live with the beast

sending :blowkiss: :flowers: :wine: [chocolate] and of course

big purple :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
Be good, take care, see you soon :-)

Okay so this probably won't go down very well but truth will out. I have suffered from eczema in my ears all my life, meaning they get intensely itchy every day, and several times a day at that. My solution is to poke my ear canal with extra long hairgrips to relieve the itch (bliss!) and clear the wax.

Yes I know this breaks every health rule from A to Z but I've been doing it daily all my life (I'm now in my late sixties) and so far as I can tell it's never done me on iota of harm. Unless maybe helped reduce my hearing but imo that's just as likely to be down to old age or whatever.

Anyway, too late now!

itchy ears

Postby Gig » Tue Nov 13, 2012 8:29 am

Hi everyone, I have been struggling with ear infections, itchy ears and clear dish charge for over a year!
Is this connected to fm?
I have to put drops in my ears at least twice a week to help dry them up as I was told I have eczema in the inner ear canal, it's a horrible itchy thing. I have also suffered swelling in my face due to swelling.
I agree with using the Vaseline or e45 as this can relieve the itching x
