FM and Psoriasis

Postby susiec » Tue Apr 20, 2010 10:46 pm

Does anyone else have FM and psoriasis? I've had P for 38 years but FM only diagnosed 2. I've heard there may be a link all to do with the autoimmune system. Be interested to find out. :?: :?: :)

I dont have P but i have adult acne and white spots all over (thats auto immune). - so dont know if there is a link with P and fibro but any medication can affect your skin.
If you keep this open someone will answer you.

I have Psoriasis as well as the Fibro.

All the women in my family get it and I didn't make the connection till I was tested for Psoiatic arthritis and got the Fibro and Osteo diagnosis instead.
My psoriasis only affects my face, head and the bottom of my feet.

I have however noticed that when I am in a flare up my Psoriasis is really bad.

That's exactly how I was diagnosed with FM - by going to the rheumy with them thinking it might be psoriatic arthritis. Make you think doesn't it?? When I got the FM diagnosis, I thought - oh no, not another illness they don't know what causes it and there isn't a cure!! :? :?

Anyone with another condition is considered to be at higher risk of developing Fibro - it's more common in Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus and HMS patients too. It's probably because of how the stress of a chronic painful condition affects your brain.
I run FibroAction, a small national charity raising awareness of Fibromyalgia Syndrome. I am not a qualified healthcare professional. If you would like medical references for any facts quoted, just PM me.
