incontience of the bowels

Postby shazbaz1971 » Wed Nov 10, 2010 6:22 pm

hi all

I know this is a touchy subject but does anyone else suffer from incontience of the bowels!!

I have been under a bowel/bladder nurse now for 2 years that was because at first i have a kidney defect on top fibro/ME and my bladder was affected by retaining.......however, i have pretty much suffered from IBS since i was very young although never experienced incontience, i was sent to a more specialist bowel nurse and she did numerous tests (which were degrading) but needs must, and she found i have no nerve sensation at ALL in that region!! I basically do not know when i want to go, I have a free supply form NHS of pads delivered every 3 months, and also now use persteen plugs which have enabled me to least get out of the door now.........I am now going to see a Prof Duthie ( Lower GI Physiology Consultant), regarding this, I am praying its something simple that can be rectified , is anyone else dealing with this or expereinced similar and its been sorted, and also is it part fibro/ME! Hope someone can help and i am just glad i am not face to face with you all as i am so embarrased by this , thanks in advance xx oh i been like this for least 10 months now.... :(

Hi Shaz
We have a similar post in the section called bowel & bladder problems, that might help answer some of your worries.

I have ibs and also crohns so i know exactly how you feel.
In June this yr i had a operation because of prolapsed bowel & bladder, i am lots better now but still feel numb inside, i go between diarrhea to constipation.

I hope you can get seen and sorted soon, its a horried thing to have. :hugs: :goodluck1:

Hi shazq, you dont have to feel embarrased about anything on here, I myself have IBS, but my older sister has crohns, when she is bad its sad for her, she wont go out, so ive seen it happening to her, hope they can do something for you :hugs: :goodluck1:.

hiya deathvalley

Oh dear hun, not good that hun.....Have you been to docs about it! Thats one thing i am lucky not to have , never had well upto now !!

I went to see Prof Duthie last week, and well didnt even see him saw a registrar ! Anyway he wanted to do serious tests there n then.......I allowed first one and then refused next one when i saw the contraption he produced  it was like a TV scart lead seriously, and i was wide awake...i was like NO way !! He had already hurt me and last week i was very bad regarding that situation and also did not want to embarrass myself any further..........so basically wasted journey there! I Now have to go back to my doctors when i want these 'tests' doing yet again......I cant face them at the moment, he mentioned a op but said the one he reccommends is 50/50 working so to me that is not good , to be subjected to extreme pain with the op and it may not work!! so very frustrated to say the least......so mean time i carry on coping with this situation and consider whether to take it any further!

To be honest , I am very tired of been poked, prodded etc..........
