feet and legs are like balloons

Postby thebryans » Sat Jan 08, 2011 1:27 am

:flowers:

I have to laugh or i would cry,

for the last 4 days my feet, ankles and legs have been so swollen and they dont go down even after a nights sleep, and they are soooo painfull feels like the skin is goin to burst. so at the moment i can hardly walk for the pain,
I do have an appointment on tues with my doc as my rheumy specialist as sent him a letter, because physio didnt help me it made me worse,

I have always had some swelling in my feet like a lot of my family, but this is far worse, does anyone else suffer like this ?

plus with the pain it is made worse due that i cant take most of the stronger pain pills as they make me so ill, so most of the time have to just try to cope with it,

soft :hugs: to all

Loraine.

Ps please excuse me rambling as cant seem to think what i am trying to say

Hi Loraine
It could be water retention, keep them elevated with a couple of pillows under them even in bed.
I was told to just keep mine up when mine swelled. Hope they reduce soon. :hugs:

i think you should call nhs direct for advice (tel: 08454647). this could be a symptom of something other than firbo such as a heart or kidney problem. i don't mean to scare you!!! i get swelling in my legs fequently but not to the point of the skin stretching and the swelling goes down at night. it won't take long to make the call and at the very least will give you peace of mind.

please let me know how you get on,

adele xx :blowkiss:

my feet and ankles sweel nearly everyday at the mo. have done for quite a while. if you press on the skin and it dimples in and doesnt come bac k out again they usually say it is a sign of water retention. have it checked to be on the safe side. mine is due to fibro but also health probs due to mobility etc . if i sit in wheelchair they swell if i stand for couple of mins they tend to swell an dlike you lorraine they dont always go down at night. i have ha dmine checkd by the sister an dgp but they just told me to keep elevated when i can. even in bed so i sometimes put a small rolled duvet under bottom of mattress or just a pillow un der the mattress. but i was also given ketaprofen gel to help with the pain. it is stronger i think than ibrufen. it works for me. could it be worth asking for some thing like thta. can you take medicine for pain through a gel rather than a tablet form. good luck
