Its all just getting too much!!!

Postby millymoodoo » Sat May 26, 2012 2:18 pm

Hi all

I will appologise for going on before i start, I just need to talk!!! In April i went to see my optician who referred me to the hospital to see the eye consultant as she thinks i may have a glaucoma, so i dutifully went to the hospital where i was told that they tend to agree with my optician but as all my notes were not there for comparing a previous visit to the eye specialist they decided to call me back for a further field vision test which i have now had and i am due to see them again on 13th June. In the meantime i have had the results of my digital eye screen (because of diabetes) which have reported changes to the back of my eyes. I know i am struggling with my sight and am so scared of them deteriorating further.

I have also had regular appointments with my GP as my blood pressure is out of control despite being on 5 different blood pressure tablets, to the point where i was referred to see the cardiologist. I had a heart scan and an in depth ecg where they identified i have got a murmur, tachycardia but more worrying excess fluid around my heart, they have prescribed water tablets to try and reduce this. I now have to have another heart scan on the 7th June and following this they will do 24hr ecg and 24hr blood pressure monitering both running together. I was asked if i had, had a stroke, as far as i know i havn't and also if i got breathless or had chest pain which i also said i hadn't. But it seems that what i thought was heartburn was in actual fact chest pain and after walking 10 yards maximum from the examination room it was noted that i was breathless. Now i am scared i don't know how long i have ignored this for.

On top of all this i have crohn's disease and have been on steroids for the last 12 years without a break. Diabetes which is quite well controlled or so i thought, but not going by my results for my eyes. I also have fibro which i have been in so much pain and so tired with it that i have put all these changes down to fibro and most recently i have been getting migraines and at times total numbness in my left leg which have resulted in many falls, i now have to walk with crutches for support as this happens without any warning.

I have also recieved an admission date to have injections into the tender spots for the 20th June which i am dreading as i have had similar before and they are so painful. But this time it is part of a trial and a different mixture but i have to be an inpatient this time and the process followed 2 weeks after. I am having fentanyl patches at the moment but the pain clinic are trying to get me more relief for tha pain. I know to get any relief i need to have this done. There is so much going on i just don't know which way to turn.

My GP is excellent and i do get a lot of support from her, in fact i have 2 telephone consultations a week which helps in some ways but it also worries me wondering what may happen next. I am on Gabapentin 1500mg a day and these are increased by 300mg a week. I had a bad reaction to Pregabalin so they want to increase the Gabapentin slowly. At present it takes the edge off the pain but my GP wants to improve this over a period of time. Over the last 8months or so i have been unable to regulate my body temperature and get so hot all the time to the point that i am dripping wet a lot of the time which really doesn't help me.

I am so sorry to go on about all this as i am all too aware that there are people much worse off than me, but it just helps to write it down. Is this the only life that fibro has to offer?

Hi Milly

So sorry you are going through such a tough time. Remember you are
never alone on here. And you have friends who you can always talk to.
You have an awful lot to take on right now. Dont bottle anything up.

Hi Milly, phew you have so much going on its no wonder you dont know which way you are turning next, if you can, think of it all as positives, you are getting everything checked out (unfortuantly all at once) but you will recieve all the help you need.

I have had my diabetic eye test and also have changes occuring, but I am lucky they are grade 1 so dont need treatment this time. They can help with the changes and will work to make sure your vision doesnt deteriorate further. Hopefully once all this madness is over, things will calm down and the appointments slow up. Sending some gentle :hugs: :hugs: and :flowers: as has already been said we are all here for you if you need us :-D :-D :-D :-D

One day at a time is how a lot of us deal with things Milly, and at times break a day down into smaller parts to help us manage what is happening around us. Glad to hear the reflexology has helped you a bit
