Citalpram to Zoloft??

Postby gibbo82 » Wed Apr 10, 2013 7:59 pm

I've been on citalpram 20mg for over 10yrs, and lately my anxiety has come back pretty bad, so my doc has decided to try me on 50mg Zoloft.

Just wondering if anybody else has ever switch from citalpram to Zoloft? Is it stronger? Any side effects?

Regards

I switched from 20mg citalopram to 50mg sertraline (zoloft) and did not notice any side effects at all. It was an easy transition for me. Although I didn't stay at 50mg for very long at all as it is technically almost equivalent to 10mg of citalopram.
hope this helps :)

Really? I was told its stronger than citalpram!? What dose are you on now? And did you find it helped better for anxiety?

When I was on 50mg I relapsed quite badly... which was absolutely horrendous. For me, it was like not being on any medication at all!! I'm now on 150mg (the maximum dose being 200mg); It's definitely helping me with anxiety - I'm find I'm more relaxed now, which helps :) I hope it works well for you :)

Citalpram to Zoloft??

Postby caterpillar » Tue Apr 16, 2013 1:25 pm

I changed from citalopram to sertraline (Zoloft) last January and have never looked back! I was on 20mg of citalopram for years with occasional times of 40mg... But still had anxiety. I ended up in a really bad way last year hence why my dr changed me to 100mg sertraline and I feel so much better. I also had 12 sessions of CBT which helped an awful lot.
