restless legs and quinine

Postby fibro-lu » Thu Jul 04, 2013 3:37 pm

hi,

have/had restless legs and the creepy crawlies all over
tried the tonic water
went to GP and asked him what to do with the legs etc
he said there is nothing
asked about quinine and he prescribed it (300mg)
on it for nearly a week
am very sensitive to meds so know within 24 hours
first night felt enormously less of the creepy crawly
it makes a lot of difference to me

side effect: it makes me a bit tired
another side effect: it also works as pain relief and am in much less pain and more flexible
all the best :cow-wave: Lu

I have had restless legs for several years now... my GP put me on Mirapexim (Pramipexole) ..(very small dose) this is a drug for help in Parkinson's. I have found it really works.....they started to get more restless a few months ago, and she upped the dosage which has helped too. :-D :-D :-D

hi, here a quick update

run out of quinine few weeks ago

was still enough for me in my blood to be ok during the following nights

went down hill and couldn't get a repeat prescription (long story)

got more quinine now and it is a very big difference

so, for me quinine (it's the stuff in bitter lemon and tonic water just not enough to make a different in me) is definitely working

think as a by-product my muscles in general are more relaxed

oh how I dreaded (and still do) the nights when I was/am in bed and my whole body was/is in spasms and I just didn't /don'trealise it and finally the penny dropped/drops and I willfully relaxe(d)
all the best :cow-wave: Lu
