Has anyone tried Kratom?

Postby rich44 » Sun Aug 17, 2014 9:40 pm

It was suggested to me by a comment on my blog. So I Googled it read a bit & thought what the hell I'll try most things.
Found a decent sounding website and ordered a sample pack of different varieties for £15 delivered.

Anyway it suggests boiling the powder up, and straining it as a tea. I tried it yesterday and even after dumping loads of sugar in it, it tasted well don't ask I nearly puked whilst pinching my nose and downing it in one.

Had a rethink today and remembered I had some empty gelatin capsules that I'd bought a year ago to make ooglie eyes on cupcakes (I love making sweet food, it's my German heritage). So I made a little capsule holder with a blob of blutak and used the handle of a teaspoon to fill them up.

I've just taken a few grams this way just like taking normal tablets, no horrid taste, easy. I've just had a yogurt too and now waiting to see what happens.

So anyone tried Kratom before? I did a quick search & didn't see anything. It's legal in the UK so not breaking the law and it seems Kratom acts on the opiate receptors in the brain.

I'll update what happens. Fingers crossed!

I probably don't really need to add this, but here it comes anyway. Do be aware of anything unusual, unexpected or unpleasant that might appear as it could indicate some sort of interaction or other nastiness that is brewing due to the Kratom.

It's name sounds like what a mythical creature or an alien race or planet might be called. Sorry, bit too much Farscape watching tonight :$

It's an amazing name lol. Well had an interesting evening. Been quite itchy which suggests it is acting on the opiate receptors. Nothing massive but a bit itchy, had it before on larger doses of dihydrocodeine.

A very marked improvement in pain indeed. I'll need to repeat the experiment to be sure it's not just luck.

My legs and ankles which are usually agony are actually almost normal tonight, especially as we were on the beach earlier as the boys were using their metal detector.

So it's promising, if I get a repeat next time it's an option once or twice a week to get a better nights sleep etc.

Wife said I've been more chatty tonight too

If anyone does try it just don't use it to make tea the taste is just awful, stir it into a yogurt or make capsules or something.

Will update again when I try again, quite excited

Well as promised another update. Got quite a decent nights sleep. Don't feel I ever got into a deep sleep but I feel somewhat refreshed anyway.

Pain at normal levels for waking. Elbows especially painful followed by hands then ankles.

I'd rate the Thai Green Kratom from last night at 6/10 for pain relief which for me is higher than 60mg dihydrocodeine.

Got 5 other types of kratom to try next but not for at least another 24 hours as don't want to ruin it (or me)
