I know you're wanting to get this out there to as many people as possible, which is more than understandable. Unfortunately tho, as I'm wearing my mod hat, I've had to remove the other post. You've put this one on the best part of the forum for its subject, so hopefully you'll some decent responses, had the other one been active as well, you would have probably ended up with confusion and duplicated posts.

Just moving this back up the page.

If you've been in receipt of DLA but have been turned down at renewal please contact Sheila Gilmore MP sheila.gilmore.mp@parliament.uk who is on the Work & Pensions Select Committee as she would like to hear from you.

Please put in the subject line "Work & Pensions Select Committee - DLA Denied on Renewal" so she knows it's not a constituency matter.

I had DLA which got taken off me as my ex sent a picture to DLA showing them me doing rock climbing in 1999. i was diagnosed with AS in 2005 then fibro in 2010. i then appealed got turned down, then went to tribunal and still got turned down. there reason for turning me down as i left my ex in 2010 and moved to Dorset. i have seen 3 specialist since 2010 and the tribunal said i had no specialist records. its amazing i even showed them my appointment letters but they still refused me. My now wife has to dress me in the mornings, i cant walk without help. i use a wheelchair and still got turned down.

I had to apply again for DLA in January 2012 so finger crossed i get it this time.

I have a DLA award to Dec 2013, so was amazed when I got a review form to fill in just before last Christmas, it was a full claim form nearly and took an age to do, plus I only had 2 weeks to fill it in and get it back. They got it they said on Dec 22 and since then I have been beside myself with worry, was I going to loose my benefit, was I going to have to attend one of those much dreaded medicals, having read so much on other forums of the ammount of genuine people who have had benefits removed or have been turned down, the stress has been unbearable at times, for me my mobility element is my lifeline as it allows me to have a small car to get out when I am alone.......well 4 months on I have received the decision....nothing is to change and my money and award stay the same.....no medical and no interviews.
The time it has taken them is unbelievable, the worry and stress caused has been inhumain.
I appreciate things need to be checked and money needs to be saved, but why pick on us, what about the baby breeding workshy for a change......

i used to be on middle rate dla for over 6 years but since my last renewal claim the knocked me down to the lowest which is 78.20 a month .i went through all the appeals and even tribunal (which i never attended) so i accepted it due to the fact of repeated form filling and phone calls trying to plead my case theystill said i only deserved the lowest rate , i gave up to be honest , yes its only money , and yes i need it , dont we all , but what should i do , sometimes i ffel a fraud because i can have a few days(not many i must add) where my body feels half alive , but other days i can hardly walk , so i guess what im trying to say is , do i phone them again and tell them i think i deserve to be on a higher rate and go through all the stress of form filling and medicals etc only to be told there desisions still the same , im at a crossroads right now and the past few months my pain has almost become unbearable to the point of , well you dont wamt to know that bit . im fed up of being a drugged up space caddet who can no longer enjoy a normal life , and the government have ground me down to the ground , what should i do ? phone dla again or accept it?

Hi Barry...

If you have been thro the appeal & tribunal then i would suggest waiting for a few months then putting in for a change of circumstances. On the dla forms were told you put down as if its your worst day so no need to feel a fraud.

:goodluck1:

edit to say that in the change of circumstances form go through what the dla turned you down on etc and work on those points. Maybe seek CAB advice also thats if you decide to do the above.

Recently Been Turned Down for DLA at Renewal? - Please Read!

Postby Just-JJ » Thu Jun 14, 2012 12:39 pm

Thanks for the info about the mp - I'm on a lifetime award lrc and hrm but know eventually I will get the dreaded form to fill in.

When I first applied I was turned down and won my award at tribunal.

Once my ESA is sorted (transfer from IB) I am going to apply for an increase of my care rate - if they turn me down for all of it my fight will be on the basis that I am far worse now than I was when I was awarded it so how can I have got it then but not now!!

Good luck to all that are fighting xxx
