Major JAW pain

Postby kazisedso » Tue Jun 04, 2013 3:40 pm

Hello all,

just a quick question......
My Jaw, both sides, just in front of my ears, is absolutely killing me.
Whilst trying to eat lunch my left side was clicking really bad.......
I have had to sit and massage both sides as they are hurting so much......
i don't know if i'm tensing or clenching my teeth but it's really bad
Any advice on how i can relieve this?
Even consciously trying to keep my jaw relaxed, isn't helping.....
It's just one thing after another after another.......(sigh!)

Thanks in advance.

Karen.......you need to see your Dentist soon! You have symptoms of TMJ. Just a warning if your jaw locks, do not try to open it yourself. I forced mine and broke a small bone.

Hi *Lisa* thanks for that,

sounds like what i have got.
The left side of my jaw is clicking really badly and it's aching both sides but mainly the left......it's like you have been chewing gum or caramel for too long... except i haven't :( and it's giving me a whoppa of a headache to go with it
I have got an outer ear infection could it be related to that i wonder?
Do i see the Dentist or the Gp?

Thanks again,
Karen

Karen...see your dentist your GP will just send you there. Hopefully you can get away with an over the counter mouthguard.

The specialist wants me to wear one type to bed, one other to eat and another the rest of the time, LOL
My jaw is out of alignment by 1/8 of an inch sideways. I also broke it at some point, likely when I fractured my neck. I also broke a small bone trying to pry my jaw open myself,

TMJ can be a simple fix or a rather involved treatment, have your Dentist check you
