Vit b12 levels

Postby Horsey2203 » Tue May 19, 2015 1:59 pm

I got results for vit b12 blood test which were 365. I know the recommended levels are under 200 is thought to be deficient, however, various info seems to say anything under 500 is low and it would be worth having b12 injections to treat symptoms (a lot which are similar to fibromyalgia symptoms) to see if any improvements made. Does anyone have any info, advice, or experience of this?

If you are looking to the Internet for normal levels you will get many answers. Labs use different formulas and only the Dr can give you the correct answer from your blood work. Your results should show what is considered low, normal.

The lab we use says that .......deficientry is under 107
........intermediate 107 to 133
........sufficient 133 to 145

My Dr put me on 1000mcg of B12 a day because my results were 118. The latest results are 87, so my body may not be absorbing the tablet.
I go back in a week to see what happens next.

Discuss your concerns with your Dr. He or she will know if you are deficient or not.

Expect the worst in life you won't be disapointed and you'll be prepared!
