There

A poem by Karen Crosby

Sometimes I feel down, I can’t explain it

Don’t tell me to pull myself together

Don’t ask me why

Don’t assume my life is charmed

And what do I need to be depressed for!

I feel this way, its there

It cannot be justified, or understood

The science says I have a chemical imbalance

So be it, so what?

Forget your opinions, they don’ help

And don’t try to fix it

Don’t assume it will pass

Today, or in a week.

Try living a day in my life

Pain, fear, anxiety, insomnia

Look at what my struggles really are

Would you swap lives for a day?

I think not.

All I ask is an open door

Just be there when I need you

Then maybe, just maybe

My darkness will not be there forever.
